Info: Indiana requires you to move over one lane for any stopped emergency vehicle with lights flashing — police, ambulances, fire trucks and rescue equipment, highway incident-response and maintenance vehicles, utility service vehicles and tow trucks — and, since the law was amended effective July 1, 2023, for any disabled vehicle with its hazard lights activated.
Indiana requires you to move over one lane for any stopped emergency vehicle with lights flashing — police, ambulances, fire trucks and rescue equipment, highway incident-response and maintenance vehicles, utility service vehicles and tow trucks — and, since the law was amended effective July 1, 2023, for any disabled vehicle with its hazard lights activated. If you cannot change lanes safely (including on a two-lane road), slow to 10 mph below the posted speed limit; never stop in the roadway. Failing to move over is a Class B infraction.
