Fireworks
Fireworks laws change at state, county and city lines.Track them in the free LawLert iPhone app: it alerts you when you cross into a state where they differ, or into a city or county with its own fireworks ban where LawLert has the local rule, and when they change in your state. No account.Get the appConsumer fireworks are legal statewide in Kansas, but bottle rockets and M-80s are not, and cities and counties decide when and whether you may light any of them. Since 2025 (SB 199), seasonal retailers may sell June 20–July 7 and permanent brick-and-mortar retailers may sell year-round if registered annually with the State Fire Marshal (K.S.A. 31-502, 31-503). It is also illegal to discharge fireworks on any public roadway, on or under a vehicle, within 50 feet of a fireworks stand, or at a gas station. Kansas sets no statewide discharge dates, so check the local ordinance.
