Oklahoma requires only a rear plate: the state issues one plate per registered vehicle and requires at least one plate to be properly installed. Under the Tax Commission rule, license plates must be firmly affixed to the rear of the vehicle. There are two exceptions: trucks registered under the International Registration Plan mount the plate on the front, and trucks over 26,000 pounds gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) may mount it on the front or the rear. Plates must be displayed so the letters and numerals read left to right, parallel to the ground (OAC 710:60-3-20).
