Fireworks
Fireworks laws change at state, county and city lines.Track them in the free LawLert iPhone app: it alerts you when you cross into a state where they differ, or into a city or county with its own fireworks ban where LawLert has the local rule, and when they change in your state. Local governments cannot regulate the sale, storage, transport or distribution of fireworks, but may regulate the hours of ignition and use — except they cannot restrict use after 11 a.m. on these protected days: December 31 (until 1 a.m. January 1), the Saturday and Sunday before Memorial Day, June 29–July 4, July 5 when it falls on a Friday or Saturday, and the Saturday and Sunday before Labor Day — each until 11:45 p.m. Outside those windows a local ordinance may apply, carrying a $1,000 civil fine per violation (MCL 28.457).
