Info: Under the John Hubbard Move Over Act, Alabama requires you to move over a lane for stopped police, emergency, wrecker, utility, and garbage or recycling vehicles, and for maintenance, construction or survey vehicles showing flashing lights.
Under the John Hubbard Move Over Act, Alabama requires you to move over a lane for stopped police, emergency, wrecker, utility, and garbage or recycling vehicles, and for maintenance, construction or survey vehicles showing flashing lights. If you can't move over, slow to 15 mph below the posted limit. On a two-lane road, move over within your lane and slow to 15 mph below the limit, or to 10 mph if the limit is 20 mph or less (Ala. Code §32-5A-58.2). A violation is a misdemeanor: $200 for a first offense, $250 for a second and $300 for a third, plus a 90-day license suspension on a third offense.
