  • MontanaPermitted

No state law limits magazine capacity in Montana — standard-capacity and high-capacity magazines are legal to buy and possess under state law. Federal law sets no general capacity cap. A handful of cities around the country do have their own rules, so check locally if you're unsure.

  • OregonConditional

No Oregon magazine limit is in effect now. Measure 114, passed by voters in 2022, would ban magazines over 10 rounds, but a court injunction blocks it and the Oregon Supreme Court has not ruled. A 2026 law also bars it from applying before January 1, 2028. If it takes effect, possessing a larger magazine is a Class A misdemeanor, with limited exceptions. Check before you travel.

  • UtahPermitted

Utah has no state limit on magazine capacity. State law also reserves firearm regulation to the state, so cities and counties generally cannot make their own firearm rules unless the Legislature allows it.

  • WashingtonConditional

Washington bans manufacturing, importing, distributing, selling and offering for sale a magazine that holds more than 10 rounds, a gross misdemeanor, effective July 1, 2022. The law does not ban possessing one. Importing means moving one into the state, and the only exception is for a person returning with the same magazine they took out, so a visitor who brings one in may be charged.
